 ArtsLynchburg
is an initiative by Arts organizations in Lynchburg,
Virginia, to promote Arts of all kinds in the community.
The initiative grew out of the realization that there are an
abundance of arts organizations and artists operating in and around
Lynchburg, and that the public are, by and large, unaware of
their wealth of artful activity.
Initial meetings were held in the summer of 2007 to explore
ways to better inform the public and work together as artists, with
the idea that all would benefit from a broad promotion of the arts.
Thus the Arts Marketing Group was born.
The first objective of the Arts Marketing Group was to publish a
quarterly insert in the News & Advance that combined a comprehensive
calendar of Arts events with detailed information about each of the
member organizations. The first issue of ArtsLynchburg appeared in
September 2007 and there was immediate interest by other
organizations eager to participate. The winter issue
was printed in December and the spring issue in February 2008.
Our numbers have grown with each issue. This website is an
outgrowth of that initiative.
The aim and purpose of ArtsLynchburg.net, this website, is to
represent every working artist and arts organization in the
Lynchburg area, to build a network of support and coordination of
efforts that promotes the Arts by strengthening the artists, and to
provide a comprehensive resource for the public, so that they can
know what's happening before it happens and discover the richness of
experience that the Arts provide. |
